The aluminum foil used in the pharmaceutical blister pack is a sealing material sealed on a hard piece of medicinal plastic polyvinyl chloride (PVC), so it is also called a lidding material. The aluminum foil is made of electrolytic aluminum with a purity of 99% and is made by rolling. It is non-toxic, odorless, has excellent electrical conductivity and light-shielding properties, and has extremely high moisture resistance, gas barrier properties and taste retention. Because aluminum foil has a highly dense metal crystal structure, it can block almost any gas, water vapor and light, so it can protect the packaged objects most effectively. In modern packaging, almost all require opaque or high barrier layer, so it is widely used.

2. The most widely used blister material for pharmaceutical packaging is medicinal polyvinyl chloride (PVC) rigid sheet.

Since medicines are very sensitive to moisture and light penetration, it is necessary to have good barrier properties against water vapor, light and peculiar smell to the plastic hard film. However, the currently used polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is just not ideal on the wet and humid side, so it should be promoted in the future.

3. Pharmaceutical “PTP” aluminum foil printing ink material.

At present, there are many types of printing inks on the market, with different brands. However, considering the printing process of medicinal “PTP” aluminum foil and the special requirements of pharmaceutical packaging, the printing ink must have good adhesion to the aluminum foil, the printed text pattern is firm and clear, the application of solvent release, and good heat resistance. Excellent friction resistance, good gloss, non-toxic pigments, no contamination of the packaged drugs due to the migration of chemical components in the ink, and the practical viscosity should meet the process requirements of aluminum foil printing.
